2022 President's Report

It was wonderful to be able to have an uninterrupted netball season, the first for two years. This year marked our tenth season with the North Canberra Netball Competition, and it was another year of growth for our club as we had 31 teams in the competition, making us the biggest club registered with Canberra Netball Association.

In 2022 we had;

  • 4 Set teams

  • 3 GO teams

  • 8 Junior teams

  • 7 Intermediate teams

  • 2 Cadet teams

  • 7 Senior teams

This gave us over 330 playing and non-playing members.

Of the 24 teams eligible for finals, we had 11 teams make the semi-finals with 5 making it into the grand final. Congratulations to Wildcats in Seniors Div 6 who won their grand final. Commiserations but also well done on finishing second to Cheshire Cats in Juniors Div 5, Aristocats in Inters Div 1, Servals in Seniors Div 4 and Pumas in Seniors Div 5. They were all close games and were hard fought right to the final whistle.

The depth and talent in our club is best shown by the number of representative players that were selected to represent both Canberra Netball Association and Belconnen Netball Association. Congratulations to all 37 players and coaches on their selection for both CNA and BNA Representative teams.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents and members who helped this year on the BBQ’s and with our CNA office duties. Without volunteers like you the club would not be able to run as well as it does.

With the easing of COVID restrictions this year we were able to return to celebrating the end of the season with our family and fellow club members. Both the Set, Go and Junior function and the Intermediate, Cadet and Senior function were held at the Ainslie Football Club. It was great to see so many members along with their families attend these functions to help celebrate another successful year for the club. Congratulations to all the recipients of the Player’s Player awards and Coaches awards for each team.

Lastly, thank you to my 2022 committee members for all the hard work they have put into the club this year. Without the support and assistance of these wonderful volunteers, we would be unable to run such a successful club.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you all in 2023.
